Chapter 20 - The Sister in the Shadows

Sienna agreed to meet Isabella at a quiet restaurant.
She was forty, composed, and dressed in a dark business suit.
Margaret waited in another room at Sienna’s request.
“I knew who you were,” Sienna said.
“For how long?”
“Six years.”
“Why didn’t you contact me?”
“Because Jason found me first.”
He showed Sienna documents suggesting Margaret had sold her adoption rights for money.
The papers were forged.
Jason convinced her that Isabella inherited the life Margaret denied her.
He offered revenge disguised as justice.
Sienna helped locate trust records.
She monitored Isabella’s communications.
She provided Jason with information about Margaret’s health and movements.
“Did you know they planned to take Noah?”
“No.”
“Did you know they wanted me declared mentally incompetent?”
Sienna looked down.
“I knew they were preparing something.”
“You chose not to ask.”
“Yes.”
The same cowardice had infected everyone around Isabella.
Sienna slid a flash drive across the table.
“This contains every email I kept.”
“Why give it to me now?”
“Because Jason ordered me to erase the foreign accounts after his arrest.”
“Did you?”
“No.”
The drive contained proof that Evelyn and Thomas controlled offshore funds worth more than $40 million.
It also showed Sienna had diverted a portion into an account she controlled.
She was not only a victim.
She had stolen too.
Police arrested her when she left the restaurant.
