Chapter 22 - Jason Turns on Evelyn
Jason requested a plea agreement.
He offered to testify against Evelyn and Thomas.
Evelyn laughed when prosecutors informed her.
“My son would never.”
At the next hearing, Jason entered wearing a jail uniform.
He described how Evelyn trained him to target Isabella.
“She told me love was access.”
Evelyn’s face changed.
“She said the baby would activate the trust.”
“You ungrateful coward,” she hissed.
Jason continued.
He admitted pulling Margaret’s chair intentionally.
He admitted helping prepare the false psychiatric report.
He admitted planning to leave the country with Noah.
The prosecutor asked whether Evelyn showed remorse.
“No.”
Jason looked toward his mother.
“She said Isabella would thank us once we controlled her.”
Evelyn stood abruptly.
“You did everything willingly!”
“Yes,” Jason said. “I did.”
He did not excuse himself.
But his testimony destroyed her claim that Thomas manipulated the entire family alone.
After court, Jason asked to speak with Isabella.
She refused.
He sent a letter instead.
I thought control was love because that is what I was taught.
Isabella returned it unopened.
