Chapter 1 - The Woman He Tried to Erase

The courtroom doors opened just as Gavin Rourke told the judge I had never contributed a dime to his company.
I walked in holding the hands of our eight-year-old twins, Nolan and Parker. Gavin’s confident smile vanished. Sloane Pierce, the woman in the red dress beside him, stared as if I had risen from the dead.
Judge Marian Beckett leaned forward. “Mrs. Bellamy... you’re finally here.”
“The boys wanted to hear the truth,” I said.
I placed an old leather folder on the evidence table. Gavin shot to his feet.
“That file is fake.”
The judge opened it anyway. Her eyes stopped on the first page.
Then she looked at me. “Who exactly is Cassandra Bellamy?”
