Elena discovered confidential filings had been accessed hours before each of Gavin’s countermoves.
The login belonged to her junior associate, Caleb Dunn.
Caleb denied leaking information until investigators found payments from a consulting firm controlled by Gavin.
He had copied witness lists, evidence requests, and hearing strategies.
That explained the break-in, the missing archive, and Gavin’s attempt to reach the boys before the custody order was delivered.
Elena looked devastated.
“I brought him onto your case,” she said.
“You also found him,” I replied.
Caleb agreed to cooperate. He produced messages in which Gavin ordered him to locate Walter’s box and “neutralize” Sloane’s recording.
One message mentioned a final document stored in a private bank vault.
Gavin called it the dead man’s switch.
