Chapter 9 - The Expert Who Changed Sides
Gavin hired a celebrated document examiner, Dr. Marcus Vale, to declare the trust authorization genuine.
His report was devastating. It said the signature matched mine with “a high degree of certainty.”
Elena studied it for hours.
Then she noticed the comparison samples had all been provided by Gavin’s legal team. Three came from documents signed after our separation.
We obtained my original bank records and medical forms from years earlier. Dr. Vale compared them independently.
His conclusion changed.
The trust signature was a digital construction assembled from pieces of three genuine signatures.
When he informed Gavin’s attorney, someone offered him $75,000 to preserve his first report.
Dr. Vale recorded the call.
The caller never said Gavin’s name, but used a private extension assigned to Sloane.
Sloane denied everything.
Gavin called her “an overenthusiastic employee.”
