Chapter 17 - The Dead Man’s Switch

The vault held a signed agreement transferring the company’s patents to a shell corporation if Gavin lost controlling authority.
The transfer price was one dollar.
The shell corporation belonged to his college friend, who planned to sell the patents overseas and return a share to Gavin later.
If activated, the company would become worthless overnight.
The agreement required one final board signature.
That signature belonged to Walter’s daughter, Amy, the accounting director Gavin had threatened.
Gavin had told her the document was an emergency licensing authorization. She had not signed yet.
He began calling her every hour.
Then he appeared outside her home.
Amy locked the door and contacted us. Investigators recorded Gavin offering her $500,000 and threatening to blame her for the offshore transfers if she refused.
She refused.
