Daniel looked older behind the glass.
“I’ll tell you where the account is if you support a reduced sentence.”
Rebecca picked up the phone.
“You’re bargaining with money you stole from my children.”
“I can help recover it.”
“You can tell the prosecutor.”
“They won’t give me enough.”
“Enough for what?”
“To avoid prison.”
Rebecca almost smiled.
“You stood inside Dad’s house while my children froze outside.”
“I didn’t know Marcus hit you.”
“You knew we had nowhere to go.”
Daniel looked down.
“I was scared of losing the company.”
“And I was scared of losing my life.”
He finally gave her the information without securing a promise.
A private account in the Cayman Islands held nearly $1.8 million.
It had been opened through Victor Hale’s firm.
Investigators froze the funds within days.
Daniel’s cooperation reduced some charges, but not all.
He would still serve time.
His company entered receivership.
Employees were offered positions through a legitimate buyer, preventing the workers from paying for Daniel’s crimes.
Rebecca insisted on that condition.
Maya asked why.
“Because justice should reach the guilty, not crush everyone standing nearby.”
The court approved repayment of the children’s stolen trusts.
But one question remained.
The original Hart estate was worth far more than the recovered funds.
Millions were still missing.
