Chapter 9 - The Hospital Trap

Rebecca knew going to the hospital could expose her location.

She went anyway.

Not because Daniel demanded it.

Because some part of her still wanted to believe her father had closed the door out of fear, not cruelty.

Teresa arranged for officers to remain nearby while Angela stayed with the children.

At the hospital, Daniel met Rebecca near the elevators.

“What did you do?”

“Nothing.”

“Dad collapsed after seeing those bank records.”

“So he knows I found them.”

Daniel’s face tightened.

That was the confirmation she needed.

“You knew Marcus stole my inheritance.”

“It wasn’t theft.”

“It was in my name.”

“Dad managed it for the family.”

“You spent it.”

Daniel lowered his voice.

“The company employed thirty people.”

“My grandmother didn’t leave that money to your employees.”

Their mother appeared at the end of the hall.

Her face looked ten years older.

“Rebecca.”

For one second, Rebecca wanted to fall into her arms.

Instead she asked, “Did you know?”

Her mother’s eyes filled.

“I knew there was a trust.”

“Did you know they forged my signature?”

“No.”

“Did you know Marcus hit me?”

Her mother looked away.

Rebecca’s chest tightened.

“You knew enough.”

The hospital room door opened.

Her father sat upright in bed, fully dressed.

No monitors.

No IV.

No medical emergency.

It had been a trap.

Marcus stepped from behind the curtain.

“You need to come home,” he said.

👉 Rebecca entered the hospital hoping for truth—and found her husband waiting to take her children away.
